While most slight injuries or pain do not require a doctor's attention, always be aware of what your body is telling you. Swollen joints, persistent pain, an inability to bear weight on an injured extremity, tenderness of a bone to the touch, feelings of instability or weakness and numbness or tingling in an extremity may be signs that you need to see an orthopaedist.
